sweet little fribble of a is very clear from the beginning what will happen, and the plot (if one can dignify it by that name) sweeps happily passed an hour or two pleasantly...but it is not deep, solid or indeed a keeper...just a little froth of an amuse-bouche...very similar to"The None-such"...which is fine, there are worse models...

I was introduced to this book by fans of Georgette Heyer and as a homage to her style and her genre it is wonderful fun. An amusing plot line with some devious ideas, interesting characters who are believeable in their setting, and several varied romances make it very enjoyable to read. As I can't look forward to more new novels by Heyer I will look forward to some more in a similar style from Alicia Cameron.

This story catalogues the adventures of a group of apparently helpless ladies. With the help of some devious friends each of them achieves happiness, and squashes the pretensions of some amusingly unpleasant relatives.
The plot was worthy of Georgette Heyer. I can't wait to read more like this.

I truly loved it!!! Written with humour and with characters to love, I couldn't put it down. After reading it all in one sitting ( it's now way past my bedtime) I had to give this book five stars . Will be looking out for more by this author. X

Updating this to 5, as the errors gave bern corrected. Highly recommended. ORIGINAL. Proofreading is required! I would have enjoyed it much more if the book flowed better by simply correcting the myriad errors! This would have got a 5 otherwise, such a shame.

A super tale of the Regency period with a feisty heroine and a great group of interesting supporting characters. This was my first book by Alicia Cameron and I shall certainly look forward to reading her latest. I believe that it involves another strong and interesting female lead. I suspect that Alicia Cameron has a rare talent for creating vibrant characters.

Entertaining book about a young lady that suddenly became the lady of the manor with an inkling on how women were perceived as so weak that an elder brother would need to take decisions in her place. Loved it.

The author's love for Austen and Heyer shines throughout the book, but with a keen awareness of the vulnerability of women and the lack of control they had over their own destinies. The story is entertaining and the machinations of Clarissa and her friends very amusing.

Lots of fun, with well written characters and an attention to detail that transports you back in time. A very entertaining and amusing read! Would love to hear it as an audio book! A must for Georgette Heyer fans!
